Israeli Work Visa for a Lecturer, Researcher, or Professor

Israel is willing to extend foreign expert visas to lecturers, researchers, or professors in the event that someone of the comparable skill level is not available for employ in Israel.  The reason Israel limits foreign expert visas is to keep as many Israeli jobs for Israelis as possible.  However, in the event that someone with specialized knowledge is not easily available in the Israeli labor force, foreign expert visas can be issued.   An Israeli institute of higher education is one that is recognized by the Board of Higher Education Law or an institution that awards degrees according to the same law.  In order to apply for this specific foreign expert work visa, the Israeli Board of Higher Education must provide confirmation that the applying institute meets the criteria to be considered an institute of higher education.  Any foreign expert work visa that is granted will be issued for a maximum of two years at a time.

If you would like to see a list of required documents for the application procedure, see our article on  the B/1 Israeli expert visa.
